Local History

The Northwest Georgia area history includes the Cherokees, the Trail of Tears, Civil War battles, and the origin of a cottage textile industry that developed into carpet manufacturing. Each of our libraries maintains a special collection of books on the history of their area.

Access is free to all users and staff is available for brief assistance. If you need more in-depth assistance or are planning to travel to visit our libraries, please contact the library in advance to schedule an appointment and for more information about our collections.
