Teens 14 to 18 can come to the coffee house and enjoy some snacks. Teen writers can share a zombie or apocalypse survival story or poem, or readers can read from stories they enjoy.

Dalton-Whitfield Library presents Zombie Survival for Spark a Reaction: Thursday, June 12th @ 3:00pm

Chattanooga’s Zombie Response Team will be coming to the library to talk to teens about preparing for the Zombie Apocalypse and other disasters. Teens will learn about the tools and equipment necessary for survival, check out their Response Vehicle, and make a mini-survival kit. Kit supplies are provided for the first 20 teens to register. Come solve a murder! Using Janet Dickey’s A Murder Melodrama murder mystery, teens will need to figure out who killed the main character. Dalton-Whitfield Library presents Python Computer Coding for Spark a Reaction: July 24th @ 3:00pm

PythonPython®: Thursday, July 24th @ 3:00pm
Learn the basics of object-oriented programming with Python®. Teens will receive an introduction to the language and create their first program. Object-oriented programming is the root of other programming languages, including Java. Workstations will be available for the first 20 teens to register.

Dalton-Whitfield Library presents Forensics for Spark a Reaction: July 10th @ 3:00pm

CrimeForensics: Thursday, July 10th @ 3:00pm
Whitfield County’s Sheriff Department will be sending over a crime scene investigator to talk about what he does for a living. Teens will be able to ask questions, see evidence, and learn how crimes are investigated in real life. DW – Robots 101, Spark a Reaction

Dalton-Whitfield Library presents Robots 101 for Spark a Reaction: Thursday, June 19th @ 3:00pm

RobotRobotics 101: Thursday, June 19th @ 3:00pm
Mr. Holloway from Dalton High school will be here to walk teens through building a simple line-tracking robot and programming it to follow a path. Teens will be paired up for this project, so bring a friend! ClayPolymer Clay Day: Thursday, July 17th @ 3:00pm
Artist Tammy Pryce creates beautiful clay sculptures of dragons with steampunk elements. She’ll teach teens the basics of working with polymer clay and then let them loose to create. From sonic screwdrivers to zombies to jewelry, if teens can imagine it, they can try to make it. Projects can be taken home to bake.
