DW – Teen: Cardboard Carnival

Dalton-Whitfield Library presents a teen program: Cardboard Carnival on January 29th from 4:00pm – 5:30pm.

Use cardboard, adhesives, and string to create cardboard versions of arcade games, such as ski ball, ping-pong machines, and foosball. Once you’re done, it’s time to play!

DW – POSTPONED Teen: Minecraft-Inspired Party

Dalton-Whitfield Library presents a teen program: Minecraft-Inspired Party on January 23, 2016 from 11:00am – 1:00pm

This event has been postponed due to icy conditions. Please check back to see when it will be rescheduled.

Snack on Minecraft inspired food and create your own wearable “Creeper”-style heads out of cardboard. Then, see who wins a lego building challenge!

DW – POSTPONED – Teen: DIY Manga Hair Clips

Dalton-Whitfield Library presents a teen program: DIY Manga Hair Clips on January 20, 2016 from 4:30pm – 5:30pm.

This event has been postponed due to inclement weather. We will update with a new date and time as soon as it’s scheduled. Stay safe and stay warm!

Create hair clips using markers and paper that resemble different manga expressive icons.

DW – Teen Author Meet: Dan Jolley

Dalton-Whitfield Library presents a teen program: Meet Author, Dan Jolley, on January 14, 2016 from 4:30pm – 5:30pm

Local author, Dan Jolley, will meet and speak with teens about the process of writing and how it differs across different formats. He has written for DC Comics, multiple video games, novels, manga, and is currently working on a TV Pilot.

Dalton-Whitfield Library Presents a Teen Program: No Talent Required Art – Typography Canvas on January 11th, 2016 from 5:30pm – 6:30 pm.

Come create a canvas art piece that you can take home using canvas, mod-podge, old books, foam letters, and spray paint!

Build Your Own Droid – January 8th @ 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Build Your Own Droid on January 8th from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. An event for teens to build simple robots with supplies provided by the library.

DW-Think Tank

Think Tank – January 4th @ 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Join us on January 4th from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m  for Think Tank in the newly renovated teen room! Formerly known as the Teen Advisory Group, Think Tank gives young adults in grades 6 to 12 the chance to tell the library what they want to see from new books to programming. I will be pitching my plans for the next month and throughout the year here for teens to give their opinions on. And bonus! There will be free food and drinks for participating! I look forward to getting feedback and fresh ideas from the teens in the community and kicking off the new year right.

Think Tank January 4th at 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. An event for teens to discuss plans for the library.

DW – Chocolate and Cheers Teen Event

Dalton-Whitfield Library Presents a Teen Event: Chocolate and Cheers on December 21st 2015 at 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Join us in an extreme gingerbread competition, create hot chocolate spoons, drink hot chocolate, and enjoy holiday fun. For grades 6 to 12.

DW – First day open after renovations

Dalton-Whitfield Library has reopened as of December 14th

 

Dalton-Whitfield County Library has REOPENED!

We would like to apologize for the extended closure, but there was lots of work to be done. We’d like to thank everyone for their patience.

The LTTC will not open on Monday, December 14th, It will reopen as soon as additional safety requirements are inspected and approved. We do not expect a long delay. A public computing area is available on the main floor. We apologize for the delay!
