The Dalton-Whitfield Library welcomes its teens and young adults. There is a room devoted to the young adult collection of books and designed to give teens (ages 12-18) a space to hang out in.

This room includes all of the young adult book collection, seating, and computers.

The young adult/teen section offers a wide variety of books aimed at teens. If you know what you’re looking for, you can head straight for the shelves. If you don’t, you can ask for help from the front desk or from the teen coordinator.

There are fiction books that include popular series like the Hunger Games series by Suzanne Collins and The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare. Fiction books are shelved by the last name of the author. Graphic novels and manga are shelved under non-fiction in the 741s. In addition to the fiction books, the teen area has some non-fiction books on important topics, such as social issues, health and development, and history. These books are shelved according to the Dewey Decimal System.

Computers & Gaming

There are computers designed for playing online games such as Minecraft, and League of Legends, watching videos on YouTube, and doing homework. Unfortunately, we cannot provide accounts to these games, simply allow teens to have a place to play them.

The library also provides summer reading programs for 6th – 10th grade, and will be hosting free events for teens to join throughout the summer and school year.
