Summer Collaborative

Dalton-Whitfield County Library will be participating in the Summer Collaborative again, bringing summer reading programs to elementary schools throughout Whitfield county. For information on the programs, hours, and locations of the schools and libraries participating in Summer Reading Program 2016, click on the name of the school or library below.

Join crafting fanatic, Karli Land, as she teaches the basics of making your very own spa products. With basic ingredients and simple instructions, each participant will be creating their very own spa products to take home.

CM – Preschool Story time

10:30am every Wednesday. Please note that story time sessions are regularly scheduled for the general public and are for preschool-age kids. An adult must remain with children attending story time. If a child engages in disruptive behavior, the adult must remove him/her from the session.

We now have a picnic table built by Boy Scouts Troop 75 with materials donated by Bradley Ace Hardware for an outdoor activity area. Story Time will never be the same!

NGRL – Library Resource Training

The library system is getting awesome digital services! We offer eBooks, digital magazines, and digital audiobooks. If you’re interested in using them but want to learn how, come to one of our training sessions with your device, library card, and PIN number.

DW – Witness to the Holocaust

Dalton-Whitfield Library will be hosting “Witness to the Holocaust”: Thursday, February 13th – Thursday, February 27th

This event is free and open to the public.

Come see the display at the library and learn about William Alexander “W.A” Scott III and his time as a photographer in a segregated battalion during World War II. W.A. was a Georgia resident and a civil rights activist. The exhibit is sponsored by The Georgia Commission on the Holocaust with the Georgia Public Library Service and also looks at the similarities between racial laws in the United States and in Germany.

The panels that will be on display are a part of a larger, permanent exhibit called Anne Frank in the World: 1929-1945 in Sandy Springs, Georgia.

Check this page regularly when the weather’s predicted to be bad this winter. This page will be updated regularly. Please note, if your books are due on a day when the library is closed all day for weather or other emergencies, you will not be charged overdue fines for that day. When the library reopens or opens for a half-day, fines will resume.

Any planned events at the library, such as tax preparation, story time, or other programs will be cancelled or postponed if the library is closed.
