Dalton-Whitfield Library presents a Summer Reading Program: Reptile Wrangler on June 23rd and 24th
Get up close to snakes, lizards, and insects. Learn about the super powers of the animals. Don’t forget to check in for your weekly prize and a chance to win a grand prize. Check-ins stop 15 minutes before the show and begin again after the show ends.
Many of our events will be available at several locations for two days. Please pick the location and time that is most convenient for you and your family!

Dalton-Whitfield Library will be hosting an author visit from Chris Cructcher: May 11th from 4:30 – 6:30pm
Come find out how Chris Crutcher, author of many teen and YA books, came to be the author he is today! He will read from one of his books and then participate in discussion. This reading and discussion is free to the public, so join us! This event is for teens in 6-12th grade.
Some of the books by Chris Crutcher include:
- Angry Management
- Staying Fat for Sarah Byrnes
- Whale Talk
Dalton-Whitfield Library will be have a late opening: Saturday, May 9th at 10:30am
Due to the Bill Gregory race, which will be taking place on Waugh street and other surrounding streets, Dalton-Whitfield Library will be delaying its opening. This will hopefully allow staff members and patrons to get to the building without difficulties from road closings.
We apologize for any inconvenience that this might cause. The library will still close at 1:30pm, and the computer lab will still close at 1:15 pm.
Dalton-Whitfield Library’s Friends of the Library present a Local Author Showcase and Reception, Wednesday, April 8th from 4:00-5:30pm
The Showcase and Reception will feature:
- Larry Cooper, author of Lincoln’s Land and Amanda’s Bell;
- Jason Swiney, author of Called Upon; and
- Bruce Mitchell, author of A Man’s Kitchen–North Georgia’s Favorite Recipes and Calli Letters

The library will be closed all day due to the inclement weather. Stay safe and stay warm!
When the library is closed, you can always renew your items online and check out ebooks, eaudiobooks, and emagazines from our Digital Media page using your library card and PIN.
AARP Tax-Aide will be at Dalton-Whitfield Library starting February 3rd and ending April 15th
Due to the weather, AARP TAX-AIDE will delay their start until 12:00 p.m.
