Little Red Barn is a mobile petting zoo in which children can meet farm animals and learn more about what attributes their favorite animals share. This educational experience will help children understand facts like the differences between hooves and toes while letting participants touch the animals. Teens have an opportunity to use household supplies to make LEDs light up. Simple things like watch batteries, paper clips, paper fasteners, and cardboard can create a circuit. Bug Out Picnic Enjoy a movie with a few six-legged friends trying to save their world from destruction. Bring a snack for munching after show time! Just don’t share with the bugs! Ask your parents to bring a blanket for your family to share. Please choose either the morning or afternoon showing to attend.

There will be a special presentation about rocks and fossils at each library. Participants will learn what a fossil is and how they got into rocks. Everyone will get to touch a piece of the past in this interactive program. The kit, provided by Tellus Museum, encourages children to ask questions about how rocks form, how fossils are created, and how fossils are found.

Chattanooga’s Zombie Response Team will be coming to the library to talk to teens about preparing for the Zombie Apocalypse and other disasters. Teens will learn about the tools and equipment necessary for survival, check out their Response Vehicle, and make a mini-survival kit. Kit supplies are provided for the first 20 teens to register. Teens 11 to 13 can come to the coffee house and enjoy some snacks. Teen writers can share a zombie or apocalypse survival story or poem, or readers can read from stories they enjoy. Age-appropriate stories, please.
