NGRL – Closed for Thanksgiving

All NGRL Libraries will be closed for Thanksgiving: November 27th – November 30th

We hope you enjoy the holiday! No books will be due during this time. Our online collections will still be available when we’re closed, so check out our OneClickdigital Audiobooks and Zinio Digital magazines. Our book drops will be available for returns as well.

DW – LTTC Grand Opening

Dalton-Whitfield presents the Learning and Technology Training Center Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting on September 30 from 3:30pm to 6:30pm! The Ribbon Cutting will be at 5:30 pm.

Dalton-Whitfield Library is working with other community organizations to offer the Learning and Technology Training Center. The computer lab will be moving into the center, and there will be technology-based classes available, as well as spaces for tutors to work with students and a sitting area with electrical outlets and free wireless internet! Drop by during the grand opening to see the new space, enjoy refreshments, and learn what the LTTC has to offer you.

Get a first look at the LTTC which will have:

  • State of the art technology, including a 3-D printer
  • Convertible classrooms/Makerspaces
  • Comfortable seating area for laptop, tablet, and other wi-fi device use
  • Computer lab
  • Community Meeting Space

Dalton-Whitfield Library is hosting The Happiness Project: September, October, and November

Adults and teens, join the library in reading and discussing books and then watching the movie! See below for the full schedule and the calendar for individual events. Kids, come to story time and explore what makes you happy!

Happy Harvest month! Children will explore what makes them happy during story times and enjoy upbeat music and movies.

Happiness Quilt
During the months of September through November, everyone is encouraged to submit a square to the library with what makes them happy written or drawn on it. These squares will be joined together to form the Happiness quilt. Library customers will be able to watch the quilt grow as new squares are added.

DW – FoL Book Sale

Dalton-Whitfield Library’s Friends of the Library Book Sale: First Saturday of each month from 10am – 1pm

The Book Sale is closed if the Saturday of the sale is on a holiday weekend.

Come join the Friends of the Library as they sell used books, magazines, movies, and CDs for great prices! There is occasionally furniture and electronics available as well. All proceeds benefit the library.

DW – Python Computer Coding, Spark a Reaction

PythonPython®: Thursday, July 24th @ 3:00pm
Learn the basics of object-oriented programming with Python®. Teens will receive an introduction to the language and create their first program. Object-oriented programming is the root of other programming languages, including Java. Workstations will be available for the first 20 teens to register.

Rising 6th graders to rising 12th graders will get to participate in a summer full of reading, art, and fun with our Summer Reading Program. Most events will be on Thursdays at 3:00pm at the library.

End the program with a bang! The best readers will be given special recognition, grand prize winners will receive their prizes and the winners of the robot building contest and best mad scientist or robot costume will be named! Followed by a family friendly movie.


Kids from 0 to rising 5th graders will get to participate in a summer full of reading, science, and fun in our Summer Reading Club. Most events will be on Tuesdays at 10:30am at the library.

Artist Tammy Pryce creates beautiful clay sculptures of dragons with steampunk elements. She’ll teach teens the basics of working with polymer clay and then let them loose to create. From sonic screwdrivers to zombies to jewelry, if teens can imagine it, they can try to make it. Projects can be taken home to bake.
