Ken Panse has been working with exotic animals for over twenty years and is eager to share his passion with children through educational presentations. Children will be able to get up close and personal with some of the animals, when possible, while learning about their habitats, dietary needs, and distinct behaviors. DW – Fine Freedom – 7/7

Dalton-Whitfield Library will be hosting a Fine “Freedom” Day! July 7th, all day long!

Ever been scared about the fines on a book/movie/CD you’ve kept way over its overdue date? July 7th is the day to bring the item in! We will forgive any overdue fees for items returned on July 7th at the Dalton-Whitfield library. This does not include any fees for damages.

We look forward to seeing you after Independence day with your overdue books, movies, music and more!

Little Red Barn is a mobile petting zoo in which children can meet farm animals and learn more about what attributes their favorite animals share. This educational experience will help children understand facts like the differences between hooves and toes while letting participants touch the animals. Bug Out Picnic Enjoy a movie with a few six-legged friends trying to save their world from destruction. Bring a snack for munching after show time! Just don’t share with the bugs! Ask your parents to bring a blanket for your family to share. Please choose either the morning or afternoon showing to attend.

There will be a special presentation about rocks and fossils at each library. Participants will learn what a fossil is and how they got into rocks. Everyone will get to touch a piece of the past in this interactive program. The kit, provided by Tellus Museum, encourages children to ask questions about how rocks form, how fossils are created, and how fossils are found.

Dalton-Whitfield Library Presents the Star Lab for Fizz, Boom, Read!: Tuesday, June 10th @ 4 showings starting around 10:30am.

Star LabStar Lab: Tuesday, June 10th @ All Day
The Star Lab is a mobile planetarium that allows children to experience and learn more about stars, constellations, and our universe. The hour-long program will explain what stars are and introduce the Greek constellations so they can locate them in our own night sky. Children should register at the circulation desk before the program to make sure they get a seat in the age-appropriate program. Space is limited. There will be 4 showings. Get Georgia Reading: Campaign for Grade Level Reading

Georgia wants to get all children reading at or above their grade-level. myON is partnering with Get Georgia Reading to provide free access to digital books until August 30th. These books are available to librarians, parents, and students in Georgia. Spanish options are available!

RocketBlast Off Party!: Tuesday, June 3rd @ 10:30am
The Blast Off! Party will introduce the new and improved eight-week Summer Reading Club where children can earn prizes by reading and participating in a variety of science based programs. They will learn more about the robot building competition in which they can build robots out of anything to win prizes. There will be several special guests and a movie featuring a space bound robot who is in love with a sleek robot who has discovered that life can resume on the earth.
