DW – Math Success Camp for Rising 9th Graders

Northwest Georgia Regional Library System will be hosting a Math Success Camp for Rising 9th Graders on Mondays and Wednesdays between June 20, 2016 and July 18, 2016

The Math Success Camp will help motivated, rising 9th graders prepare for freshman Algebra. Transitioning from middle school to high school can be scary. Learning skills that will help students do well in critical subjects like math, is a big confidence booster. The Math Success Camp will show kids that math can be fun, creative, and can apply to real life. The camp will be taught by certified area high school math teachers, and will focus on helping students: improve their confidence in their ability to do math , learn skills that will prepare them for Algebra I, Learn how to study math, and connect mathematical concepts to real life application.

There will be sessions available in the mornings from 10am – 12pm and in the evenings from 4pm – 6pm. There will be no class the week of July 4th.

Classes will take place at Dalton-Whitfield County Library, 310 Cappes St, Dalton GA, 30720, but are open to motivated students from Gordon, Murray, and Whitfield counties.

SRP2016 – Chattooine Cosplay – CG Teens

Calhoun-Gordon County Library presents a Teen SRP2016 Event: Chattooine Cosplay coming Saturday, June 4, 2016 at 11:00am

Would you like to find out: 1. How to pick a character 2. How to get involved in cosplay 3. How to put on character makeup. Come learn how to become part of Cosplay, and hang out with a few characters!

CG – Teen & Adult Sexual Assault & Prevention Awareness

Calhoun-Gordon County Library will be visited by Police Sergeant Tom Petty for an informational class on Sexual Assault & Prevention Awareness on Monday, April 25th from 4:00pm – 6:00pm

Teens and Adults are invited to come hear about how you can remain safe, defend yourself, and what kinds of events should be reported, etc. Please note, this is not a self-defense class. This class is in honor of April, Sexual Assault Awareness Month.

Calhoun-Gordon County Library is hosting a High School STEAM Activity on Wednesday, April 20th from 4:00pm – 5:30pm

We will be hosting STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) Week at the library.

  • Monday – Elementary School Age
  • Tuesday – Middle School Age
  • Wednesday – High School Age
  • Friday – Adults, 18 and up

For High School, we’ll be learning about recycling and the role of recycling in Calhoun, our schools, and our home, and ways we can each become more involved in recycling efforts already in place. We will also practice the art of “repurposing” recyclables by making art with plastic, glass, and other recycling materials.

CG – Spring Book Sale

The Friends of Calhoun-Gordon County Library are hosting their semi-anual Book Sale April 14th & 15th from 1-6pm and April 16th from 10am – 2pm

There will be a special preview sale for Friends of the Library members on Wednesday April 13th from 4pm – 6pm. Join the Friends in supporting the Calhoun-Gordon County Library by purchasing used books.

The sale will be held in the Community Room at the library.

CG – Teen Assorted Crafts Night

Calhoun-Gordon County Library presents a teen program: Assorted Crafts night on Tuesday, March 15, 2016 from 4:00pm – 5:30pm

Teens, in 6-12th grade, come participate in 3 craft activities:
1. Make a 4 leaf clover charm (with a real 4 leaf clover)
2. St. Patrick origami
3. Coloring for teens
