CG – YA Author Visit: McCall Hoyle

Calhoun-Gordon County Public Library will be hosting YA author McCall Hoyle on Saturday, December 2nd from 10:00am-11:00am

Join Georgia Author McCall Hoyle as she discusses her book The Thing With Feathers. This book features a teenager with epilepsy facing her first time in a public school. She’s accompanied by her siezure dog, and studies Emily Dickinson.

Calhoun-Gordon County Library presents a Teen Write Night on December 19, 2017 from 5:30pm-6:30pm

Come and join us as we work on journals, school writing projects, book ideas – anything you want to write. Or, if you prefer, you can work on an art journal or sketchbook. Basic supplies provided.

The Calhoun-Gordon Friends of the Library will be hosting their Fall Book Sale on Thursday, November 16th – Saturday, November 18, 2017

Calhoun-Gordon County Library presents a Teen Write Night on November 21, 2017 from 5:30pm-6:30pm

Open to any teens interested in writing, journaling, or students looking for help with school writing assignments, pen pal letters, etc. Supplies available include pens, penciles, and paper as well as resources on writing and basic items needed for journaling like markers, stamps, embellishments, stickers, and more.

Calhoun-Gordon County Library presents a Family Event: Star Wars Reads & STEAM Activities on Saturday, October 14th from 10:30pm-2:00pm

The whole family is invited to participate in Star Wars Reads. There will be Chattooine cosplay characters from Star Wars visiting the library and there will be photo opportunities. There will be various activities with a Star Wars theme.

Calhoun-Gordon County Library will be closing early on September 28th at 5:00pm due to the CHS Homecoming

Due to road closures and limited parking, we will be closing early on September 28th. Our bookdrops will be open and we will reopen at our normal time on the 29th. For those attending homecoming events, stay safe and have fun!

CG – Teen Coding Class (Pre-Registration is Required)

Calhoun-Gordon County Library presents a Teen Event: Coding Class on Saturdays in October from 1:00pm-2:45pm

Come learn basic programming concepts and strengthen your logical thinking skills using a combination of Khan Academy lessons and IRL exercises. The class will be led by G. Ann Campbell, a programmer with nearly 20 years’ experience in the industry. Originally self taught, Campbell went back to school to earn her Bachelor’s of Computer Science while programming full time during the day. Today she works as a Product Manager for SonarSource SA, the company behind the open source software code quality platform SonarQube. Pre-registration is required.

Teens in 6th-12th grade only, please.
