CG – Family Event: Star Wars Reads & STEAM Activities

Calhoun-Gordon County Library presents a Family Event: Star Wars Reads & STEAM Activities on Saturday, October 14th from 10:30pm-2:00pm

The whole family is invited to participate in Star Wars Reads. There will be Chattooine cosplay characters from Star Wars visiting the library and there will be photo opportunities. There will be various activities with a Star Wars theme.

CG – CLOSING at 5:00pm for CHS Homecoming

Calhoun-Gordon County Library will be closing early on September 28th at 5:00pm due to the CHS Homecoming

Due to road closures and limited parking, we will be closing early on September 28th. Our bookdrops will be open and we will reopen at our normal time on the 29th. For those attending homecoming events, stay safe and have fun!

CG – Teen Coding Class (Pre-Registration is Required)

Calhoun-Gordon County Library presents a Teen Event: Coding Class on Saturdays in October from 1:00pm-2:45pm

Come learn basic programming concepts and strengthen your logical thinking skills using a combination of Khan Academy lessons and IRL exercises. The class will be led by G. Ann Campbell, a programmer with nearly 20 years’ experience in the industry. Originally self taught, Campbell went back to school to earn her Bachelor’s of Computer Science while programming full time during the day. Today she works as a Product Manager for SonarSource SA, the company behind the open source software code quality platform SonarQube. Pre-registration is required.

Teens in 6th-12th grade only, please.

CG – Teens’ Halloween Celebration

Calhoun-Gordon County Library presents a Workshop for Teens on October 28th, 2017 from 12:00pm-2:00pm

Screaming balloons, smoking bubbles, stringing vampire veins, vanishing ghost poop, and a specimen jar filled with pickled body parts…sound interesting/ The library is the place to be on October 28th. Join us as we explore the science of dry ice with fog-filled bubbles and conduct spooky experiments that fizz, pop, scream, smoke, bubble and erupt. We will have spooky snacks and a great photo booth so throw on a costume and head this way for fun, food, and fright!

For teens in 6th-12th grade.

Calhoun-Gordon County Library presents a passive activity for teens on October 5th, 19th, 24th, and 31st, 2017, from 4:00pm-6:30pm

Join us for some passive activities including a self-guided contest, journaling, and rock painting through out the month.

CG – Passive Activities for Teens

Calhoun-Gordon County Library presents a passive activity for teens on September 16th & September 30th, 2017, from 10:30am-1:30pm

Come create and show off your creative skills! Join us for journaling and clay this month–all supplies provided–from 10:30am-11:30am. Then, join us for board games while you relax and battle your friends. A variety of card and board games will be provided from 11:30am-1:30pm.

Calhoun-Gordon County Library presents a High School Open Write Night on September 7th & 21st from 5:45pm-6:45pm

Connect with other writers in the area for discussion, tips and ideas, and a quiet place to chase your muse. Middle School Open Write Night is for anyone in 6th-8th grade and High School Open Write Night is for anyone in 9th-12th grade. All genres and experience levels are welcome!
