The entire fiction collection is located in the northeast corner of the library. It is separated into a new books area, a section for large print books and general collection. New books stay in their specific area for approximately 6 months prior to being moved to the general collection. There is a 2 week loan period for all books, with the availability of renewal if needed. Fiction is not separated by genre, but identified by applicable stickers on their spines. Some basic categories one would find are: western, science fiction, mysteries, Español and various holidays.
The non-fiction collection consists of a substantial reference collection which can be used in house only. In addition there is a general collection which may be checked out. The books are organized by the Dewey Decimal system.
Adult Literacy Collection
Tutors and students may draw upon all of the materials in every part of the library which may aid in the development of basic reading, writing, computational, and other functional literacy skills. Materials in the collection cover grammar, reading, writing, spelling, vocabulary, and math. Pre-GED and GED materials may be found in the larger nonfiction collection for more advanced students.
Housed in the adult non-fiction department, this collection has instructional materials for teachers and parents who provide homeschooling.
Video Cassettes and DVDs
The VHS/DVD collection includes genres including popular television shows, cooking instruction, self-help and classics. They are located behind the adult reading area. Videos may be checked out for 7 days.
A variety of CDs are available for checkout. The collection is adjacent to the audio section of the library.
