The Calhoun-Gordon County Public Library is proud to announce its Adult Programming for Summer 2014. The theme for the Summer Reading this year is science. There will be three events, all held at The Depot at 109 King Street, on Tuesdays at 5:30 P.M.
The first, on Tuesday the 15th of July, is a presentation by Special Agent Audey Murphy of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. Special Agent Murphy is a Crime Scene Specialist and will discuss investigative techniques and procedures.
On Tuesday the 22nd of July, Kevin Casey – operations manager of WEBS Radio Station, will explain the emergency alert system – how it works, where information is disseminated, the codes used, the agencies involved, and how quickly the radio station can alert the public.
Our last speaker is Fire Chief Lenny Nesbit, on Tuesday, July 29th, Fire Chief Nesbit will discuss fire-fighting and investigative processes regarding the forensics of suspected arson inquests and the associated technology.

The Chess Club meets each Thursday at 1:00 P.M. This club is open to chess players of all levels.
Come join us on Thursday, April 17th from 10:30-11:30 at the Calhoun-Gordon County Library and meet local author, Natalie Czerkasij Lewellen. Natalie and her mother, Alla Czerkasij are co-authors of the book, Deliverance, a true story of Alla’s childhood in the Ukraine during World War II.
Amber Nagle will conduct a Project Keepsake workshop for middle and high school students at 4:30 p.m. on April 14th at the Calhoun-Gordon County Library. The Calhoun-Gordon County Library Board will meet Tuesday, April 8th at 4:00 p.m. in the Local History/Genealogy Room. The public is invited.
AARP Tax-Aide…free tax service. Due to the library renovation, taxes will be done at the Gordon County Senior Citizen’s Center (150 Cambridge Court) on Fridays 1:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. beginning February 7th through April 11, 2014. Bring a copy of last year’s tax return and all papers related to income for 2013. Photo ID for taxpayers and SS# cards for all on the return are required. Calhoun-Gordon County Library will be closed due to road conditions.
The Calhoun-Gordon County Library Board will meet for their quarterly board meeting Tuesday, January 14th, at 4:00 p.m. in the library meeting room. The library is located at 100 N. Park Ave., Calhoun, GA. All meetings are open to the public.
The library will close at 1:00 on Wednesday, November 27th and will reopen at 10:00 on Monday, December 2nd.
The Calhoun-Gordon County Friends of the Library will hold their Fall Book Sale October 16th, 18th & 19th at the Book Depot (across from the Calhoun Depot). All books will be half price on Wednesday and Friday. Saturday will be “dollar bags.” Hours: Wednesday (16th) 1:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m. Friday (18th) 1:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m. Saturday (19th) 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.
